The collapse of Manchester United's Carlos Baleba transfer saga has reportedly forced them to target Stuttgart's Angelo Stiller instead. Often labelled as the next Toni Kroos, the German has recovered from an injury and is attracting bidders yet again.

The arrival of Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo, and Benjamin Sesko has solidified Manchester United's attack, and the team management's focus has shifted to the midfield. Ruben Amorim needs a talent to join forces with captain Bruno Fernandes in the double pivot. Manuel Ugarte and Casemiro are not looking ideal fits at the start of the campaign and Amorim thinks he needs more firepower in the middle of the park, reports said.
Angelo Stiller can effectively operate as a deep-lying playmaker. He is a clinical passer like Toni Kroos, averaging 1.97 key passes and 9.12 passes into the final third per game. The Bayern Munich academy product is considered one of the finest ball distributors in the Bundesliga and was strongly linked to Real Madrid. Xabi Alonso was impressed by the 24-year-old during his tenure as the Leverkusen gaffer and wanted him at the Bernabeu. However, the deal did not go through.
In January 2025, Stiller extended his contract by one year, ensuring that he will stay with the Bundesliga club until June 2028. As things stand, Stuttgart will not sell him for less than €50 million, AS claimed.
According to reports, Stiller is one of the few names that United are considering, but nothing concrete has happened so far. The club is yet to reach out to either the player's camp or the German side, but a decision is expected to be made soon as the summer transfer window shuts on September 1.
