Mother of suspended Spanish Football Association chief Luis Rubiales, who is facing sexual harassment charges, has begun a hunger strike in Madrid accusing inhuman treatment against her son. Rubiales was suspended by FIFA's disciplinary committee recently.

Angeles Bejar, mother Luis Rubiales has locked herself inside a church in Madrid and has begun a hunger strike in favour of her son. Reuters quoted Bejar as saying that she would not withdraw her strike “until a solution is found to the inhumane and bloody hunt they are carrying out against my son with something he does not deserve."

The Spanish FA chief was suspended on Saturday by FIFA's disciplinary committee after he kissed Spanish woman football player Hermoso after the team won the Women's World Cup in Sydney on August 20. Hermoso said the kiss was not consensual. Rubiales denied the charges and said he would defend himself in competent bodies.

Along with kissing star player Jenni Hermoso, who said she did not give her consent, Rubiales also grabbed his crotch in a lewd victory gesture with Spain's Queen Letizia and her 16-year-old daughter Sofia nearby.

The move by FIFA came after the Spanish federation had even threatened action against Hermoso for refusing to accept Rubiales's version of the kiss that happened at the on-field medal and trophy presentation after Spain's 1-0 win against England last Sunday.

Following his suspension, Rubiales stated that he would legally defend himself in the competent bodies.
