Nobody could have predicted Morocco's improbable, history-making run to the semifinal at the FIFA World Cup 2022. It is one of the biggest stories in the World Cup's 92-year history. Morocco exceeded all expectations in Qatar by beating second-ranked Belgium in the group stage and then eliminating European powerhouses Spain and Portugal in the knockout phase to reach the semifinals.
The other semifinalists – France and Argentina – would have been easy choices for those predicting the final four. But the dogged Croatia would have been a difficult call for many, especially since they were up against the mighty Brazilians, who they eventually beat 4-2 in penalties.
So, imagine getting all the four semifinalists right even before the quarterfinals!
One man did – Indian football men's team coach Igot Stimac.
Stimac, who was part of the famous Croatian team of the 1998 World Cup, is currently working as an expert of the FIFA World Cup 2022 in official broadcasters Sports 18 studio. In the video released by Sports 18, he was seen predicting Morocco, Croatia, Argentina and France as the final four teams of the FIFA World Cup 2022. He trumped the likes of Wayne Rooney and Luis Figo in the predictions.
