Rajasthan Royals’ England player Liam Livingstone has pulled out of the ongoing Indian Premier League and flown back home citing “bubble fatigue”, having spent a better part of the past one year living in bio-secure bubbles.

The Rajasthan franchise confirmed that the 27-year-old had flown back to the UK on Monday, before India was added to the country’s “red list”.

“Liam Livingstone has flown back home late last night, due to bubble fatigue accumulated over the past year. We understand and respect his decision, and will continue supporting him in any way we can,” the official Twitter handle of the Rajasthan Royals tweeted.

Livingstone, who did not feature in any of RR’s three games that they have played in the 2021 IPL so far, was last seen in action during the ODI series against India in March when he made his 50-over debut.

The England cricketer was picked up by Rajasthan Royals for Rs 75 lakh in the mini auction held earlier this year.

Other players, including Mitchell Marsh and Josh Hazlewood, had also withdrawn from the 2021 IPL citing similar reasons. Players have been living bio-secure environments since the sport was disrupted last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The 2020 edition of the IPL was staged in the UAE due to rising cases in India at the time.
