Spanish forward David Villa has been accused of sexual harassment while playing for New York City Football Club (NYCFC) in the Major League Soccer (MLS) league. Skyler Badillo, a former intern has accused Villa of repeatedly harassing her sexually while she was working at the club. She also accused the NYCFC officials of not taking adequate actions despite her repeated complaints.

“The harassment I went through at NYCFC was so bad that now the idea of professional sports terrifies me. Staying in the field of athletics terrifies me. I’m changing my entire career because the shit they did to me ruined my dreams”, Skyler said on Twitter.

“I thought I was getting the opportunity of a life time when I got that internship. What I got was David Villa touching me every fucking day and my bosses thinking it was great comedic material. Women brave enough to tell their stories this loudly are my heroes. Someday”, she posted.

She also spoke about how difficult she found to work at the club and how she was accused of having an attitude problem when everyone knew what she was going through. “I still find it hilarious that I was constantly told I had a terrible attitude at that job like I wasn’t showing up everyday knowing I was gonna be groped or mocked or two hand shoved in the back. Of fucking course I had a bad attitude!!”, she wrote on Twitter.

Spain’s all-time record goal scorer, Villa has had much success on the field at NYCFC, scoring 80 times in 126 appearances. Villa has rejected the allegations, calling them false. NYYFC meanwhile, have opened an internal inquiry to get to the bottom of the allegations.
