In a video interview that has gone viral, Pakistan former pace bowler Sarfaraz Nawaz has claimed that Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan is a drug addict. Nawaz, who spearheaded Pakistan’s pace attack in the 70s and early 80s, claimed that he has seen Khan consume drugs on numerous occasions and even said that he wasn’t the only witness.

"He (Imran Khan) has been consuming cannabis; he used to do it in London and even at my home. In 1987, when Pakistan faced England in a cricket match, he did not bowl well. He had then come to my house along with Mohsin Khan, Abdul Qadir, Salim Malik in Islamabad for a meal and consumed ‘charas’”.

“He also snorts something and consumes cocaine as well. In London, he would roll something and snort it," said Nawaz in the video, which THE WEEK could not verify independently.

This is not the first time Khan has faced such allegations. In 2018, in a memoir published by his former wife Reham Khan, she had accused Khan of using different varieties of drug and of even having homosexual tendencies.

Nawaz, who is now a parliamentarian, has dared Khan to refute his claims. “If he thinks I am lying, he is free to file a case against me,” he said.
