A 54-ball 80 from skipper Rohit Sharma and a 28-ball 47 from Suryakumar Yadav powered Mumbai Indians to a challenging total of 195/5 against Kolkata Knight Riders, in an IPL 2020 match in Abu Dhabi.

Put into bat by KKR captain Dinesh Karthik, MI lost opener Quinton de Kock (1) in the second over of the match bowled by Shivam Mavi. But Sharma and Yadav put on 90 runs for the second wicket to put their team in a position of strength.

Though Sharma looked exhausted towards the latter half of the innings, useful contributions from Saurabh Tiwary (21) and Hardik Pandya (18) ensured the MI came close to the 200-run mark.

KKR tried to pull things back by dismissing Sharma and Pandya in quick succession but Mumbai managed to add 48 runs in the last five overs at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium.

For KKR, spinner Sunil Narine was the pick of the bowlers, taking 1/22 off his four overs. Australian pacer Pat Cummins leaked runs, conceding 49 in three overs. Leg-spinner Kuldeep Yadav’s poor form continued, going wicketless yet again, and giving away 39 runs in his four overs.
