Australia tennis player Nick Kyrgios has hit back at Borna Coric after the Croatian said that he did not care about the criticism that followed the Adria Tour where a few participants, including world number one Novak Djokovic, tested positive for the coronavirus.

Kyrgios shot back at Coric that he should care, adding that the Croatian’s “intellectual level = 0”.

Following the Australian’s criticism of the Adria Tour, Coric said, “I read what he wrote, but I simply don’t care because he likes to be a general after a battle.”

In response, Kyrgios tweeted, “You should care. Do you have rocks in your head? Again, you can stand up for your mates, I’m just trying to hold them accountable. When I said what I said, I didn’t intend to bother. They are tennis players, they aren’t special. Just as I thought Coric intellectual level = 0.”

Kyrgios had slammed organisers of the charity event, including Djokovic, and has had arguments on social media with current and former players on the same.

Coric, along with Grigor Dimitrov and Viktor Troicki, tested positive for Covid-19 during the Adria Tour exhibition event in Serbia and Croatia.

“If someone else was teaching lessons I would have understood, but Kyrgios ... it’s somehow not realistic,” Coric told Croatian daily Jutarnji List.

Kyrgios had also panned Alexander Zverev after he was seen partying just days after he said he would self-isolate following his participation in the Adria Tour.

“I agree that was not good, Zverev acted badly,” Coric said. “But I don’t see the need to criticise fellow players in such a way. I wouldn’t do it, but again—it’s Kyrgios.”

While some fans backed Kyrgios for wanting to hold his peers accountable, others have advised him that he should not be the one to hold them accountable because of his “past actions”.
