West Indies cricketer Chris Gayle has hit out at former teammate Ramnaresh Sarwan, calling him a ‘snake’ and ‘worse than coronavirus’ in a video in which he called out the latter’s role in Gayle’s fallout with the Caribbean Premier League franchise, Jamaica Tallawahs.

In one of the three-part video uploaded on Gayle’s YouTube channel, he talks about how the Tallawahs CEO Jeff Miller and Sarwan had used their influence to release the Jamaican from the CPL franchise.

“Sarwan, you are a snake. You are not the most loved person right now in the Caribbean. You are so vindictive. You are still immature. You are still stabbing people in the back. When are you going to change? Seriously, when are you planning to change?” Gayle said, adding that the former West Indies captain was “worse than the coronavirus right now”.

“You are no good, you are despicable,” Gayle said.

“This is all politics and this is personal as well,” Gayle said in the first part of the video, referring to a political storm in Guyana that was caused late last year.

Gayle, who played for the Tallawahs in the first four seasons of the CPL, rejoined the franchise last year after his stint with St Kitts and Nevis Patriots, but was not retained this time. He said that Sarwan had a big part in the decision.

“We no friends, alright. You stay on your side, I stay on my side. We social distancing, not by six feet – we doing it couple miles (sic),” Gayle said.

Gayle will now play for St Lucia Zouks in the 2020 CPL season. The CPL is scheduled to be played between August 19 and September 26, but the COVID-19 pandemic could derail the tournament, which could be behind closed doors or without overseas players.
