Former Chelsea forward Didier Drogba has offered a hospital to aid the fight against COVID-19 in Ivory Coast. Drogba has proposed the use of the Laurent Pokou hospital in Abidjan in the fight against coronavirus which has so faronfected over 533 people in Ivory Coast. The hospital is named after former Ivorian footballer Laurent Pokou who passed away in 2016. 

"We thank Drogba for this gift, considered as an act of patriotism," the head of the city's regional council Vincent Toh Bi said. The centre located in the Attecoube district is not yet in a working state but can be used in a period of crisis. "It's up to the state to validate it and make it functional," the director of Drogba' foundation, who runs the unit, Mariam Breka said.

Drogba 65 goals in 105 appearances for Ivory Coast and also won the Champions League with Chelsea. Known for his fierce striking and heading capabilities, Drogba was always man-marked especially while playing for Ivory Coast. Adjudged African Footballer of the year twice, Drogba is the all-time top scorer for Ivory Coast and also the fourth highest scorer for Chelsea. Drogba also has a career record of scoring 10 goals in 10 finals winning 10 trophies at club level. During the 2012 Champions League final, he scored a superb header late into the game forcing the game into extra time against Bayern and then into penalties where he scored the winning penalty.
