The Indian women's cricket team managed to reach a respectable 142/6 against Bangladesh women in a group A match at the Women's T20 World Cup, in Perth.

Though India got off to a flying start after being put into bat, thanks to a 17-ball 39 by Shafali Verma, none of the other batswomen managed to score at a fast clip. Verma's innings was studded with four sixes and two fours.

Skipper Harmanpreet Kaur fell cheaply again for eight runs. Jemimah Rodrigues made a useful contribution of 34 but took up 37 balls.

It took a mini cameo from Veda Krishnamurthy (20* off 11 balls) to push India's score past 140.

For Bangladesh, skipper Salma Khatun and Panna Ghosh took two wickets each.
