Vinod Kambli accused of assaulting singer Ankit Tiwari's kin

Former cricketer Vinod Kambli and his wife Andrea Hewitt have been accused of assaulting singer Ankit Tiwari's father and brother. A police complaint has been filed by R.K. Tiwari, Ankit's father, who was assaulted by Kambli. The incident was captured on CCTV.

The CCTV footage shows Kambli at one of the counters at a food court in Inorbit Mall in Mumbai on Sunday right before the incident. Soon after, Kambli is seen having an altercation with R.K. Tiwari and his son Ankur who were present at the scene.

A person is seen restraining Kambli from creating any further problems.

It is unclear who initiated the argument that led to the assault. Kambli said to Mirror Now that he had been at the food court when Ankur and R.K. Tiwari had pushed him. They then allegedly “pounced” on Kambli's wife. Kambli said that when he went to ask what was wrong, they pushed him and that is when he reacted violently. He claimed that R.K. Tiwari had deliberately brushed his hand against Kambli's wife.

A police personnel took statements from both parties soon after the incident.

Tiwari's family filed a case against Kambli and his wife Andrea following the assault. The police reviewed the CCTV footage to verify the incident.

Post checking the CCTV cameras in the food court, Bangur Nagar police have taken note of the complaint and are investigating the matter.
