Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates will not be attending the India AI Impact Summit in New Delhi, reports indicated on Tuesday, citing government sources. Gates was previously listed as a speaker on the summit's official website, but his name was removed on Tuesday.
Sources suggest that his absence may be linked to his recent mention in newly released files related to the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, as reported by PTI. The files, released by the US Justice Department, allege that Gates asked one of his advisers for medication to treat sexually transmitted diseases, reportedly due to "sex with Russian girls."
A spokesperson for Gates has dismissed these allegations as "absolutely absurd and completely false."
Last week, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang also cancelled his plans to attend the summit. Although Nvidia did not provide a reason for his withdrawal, some speculated it may be related to Gates' involvement in the event. Huang had been one of the summit’s key attractions.
Meanwhile, Gates is on a tour of Andhra Pradesh, where he has expressed admiration for the state's advancements in health, agriculture, and education. In a post on X, Gates thanked Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu for the warm welcome, saying, “It’s exciting to witness Andhra Pradesh's growth being accelerated through AI, technology, and innovations across health, agriculture & education.”
During his visit to Amaravati, the state’s greenfield capital city, Gates engaged in several activities. These included a meeting with the Chief Minister and other officials, where he reviewed presentations on how technology is being integrated into governance. He also visited a banana orchard near the Krishna river in Undavalli village, located in Guntur district.
