YouTube Premium Lite is now in India. With an intention to provide users an affordable way to watch and enjoy more videos, the platform decided to introduce a Premium Lite segment for Indian users.
What is YouTube Premium Lite?
Priced at Rs 89 per month, viewers will be able to experience an affordable way of enjoying most of the videos ad-free.
This expansion comes as YouTube Music and Premium reach over 125 million subscribers, including trials globally. The expansion of Premium Lite can also create additional avenues to earn revenue for creators and partners, said YouTube.
The new membership works across devices, including phone, laptop, and TV.

✅ Ad-free on most videos
📱 Works on phone, laptop & TV
⚠️ Ads still on Shorts & music
Full rollout in coming weeks. pic.twitter.com/TWbo6NZG52
While Premium Lite offers ad-free viewing for most videos, advertisements may still appear on music content and Shorts, and when users search or browse.
Whereas in YouTube Premium, all videos are ad-free, this includes music and music videos as well. Users would be able to exercise the option of downloading and background play.
This would not be possible for users who opt for Premium Lite. YouTube has mentioned that the rollout of Premium Lite is underway, with full availability expected across the country in the coming weeks.
