No more sharing passwords, Instagram introduces ‘shared access’ for accounts with multiple users

Instagram is rolling out a new feature that’s set to make life easier for creators, small businesses, and anyone who manages a social media account as a team. Called 'Shared Access', the update allows you to add up to three people to help run your Instagram account — no password sharing required.

Until now, managing a single account often meant juggling login details or taking the risky route of handing over passwords. It wasn’t ideal, especially with security and privacy at stake. 'Shared Access' offers a safer and more convenient solution.

With this update, collaborators can post content, reply to messages, and engage with followers. You, as the account owner, remain fully in control. The people you invite will not be able to change your password, access sensitive settings, or remove you from the account. And if you ever need to make changes, it's easy to review or remove access anytime through the app’s accounts centre.

Instagram says the feature was built to support safe and seamless teamwork, especially in today’s world where remote collaboration is increasingly common. It’s a helpful tool for creators working with editors or managers, businesses coordinating with freelancers, and media teams managing high-volume pages.

The feature has already begun rolling out globally. If you don’t see it on your app just yet, it should appear soon.
