South African all-rounder Dian Forrester will now officially be a part of the Chennai Super Kings IPL 2026 squad.

The decision was announced by the team after Jamie Overton had to be ruled out of the remaining matches due to a right thigh injury.

"Dian Forrester will join CSK for INR 75 lakh as a replacement for Overton. Forrester, an all-rounder from South Africa, made his debut in March 2026 against New Zealand and has featured in 5 international games, scoring 83 runs," informed IPL in an official statement.

The 32-year-old England all-rounder is the latest addition to the long list of players who have not been able to contribute to the matches.

Overton played a vital role in the IPL campaign for the five-time winners, taking 14 wickets and scoring 136 runs in 10 matches. The Chennai-based franchise has been without their former skipper MS Dhoni, while they lost top-order batter Ayush Mhatre and seamer Khaleel Ahmed to injuries midway through the season. Previously, CSK had also roped in Karnataka all-rounder Macneil Noronha as a replacement for the injured Maharashtra all-rounder Ramakrishna Ghosh.

Meanwhile, industrialist and RPG Group chairperson Harsh Goenka commented that "at least four IPL captains will not be leading their teams next season". A PTI report even suggested that three skippers might be sacked once the IPL 2026 season is over.
