Apple has launched its first-ever virtual credit card for users in the United States. The card carries no card number, CVV security code, expiration date or signature on the card—thus providing more security than any other physical credit card.

The iPhone maker is partnering with Goldman Sachs as its issuing bank and Mastercard to provide the support of a global payments network.

The company said in a statement that customers can apply for Apple Card through the Wallet app on iPhone and start using it right away with Apple Pay in stores, in apps and on websites.

Apple has also issued a set of guidelines on how to safely carry the titanium card. It advises users to store their card in a wallet, pocket, or bag made of soft materials.

“Don't place your titanium Apple Card in a pocket or bag that contains loose change, keys, or other potentially abrasive objects,” it says.

While detailing how to clean the card in case it comes to contact with contaminants, the company cautions the users that some fabrics, like leather and denim, might cause permanent discoloration that will not wash off.

Apple urges users to follow these steps to clean their card: a) Gently wipe with a soft, slightly damp, lint-free microfiber cloth, and b) Moisten a soft, microfiber cloth with isopropyl alcohol and gently wipe the card.

“Don't use window or household cleaners, compressed air, aerosol sprays, solvents, ammonia, or abrasives to clean your titanium Apple Card,” it said.

The company warns customers against keeping their card near magnets. “If your card is placed close to a magnetic latch on a purse or bag, the magnetic strip can become demagnetized,” it said.
