Dubai has announced the details of the Dubai Metro Gold Line, a national rail infrastructure that will span 42 kilometres and 18 stations. Set to be operational by 2032, the line is expected to serve 1.5 million residents by 2040, with daily ridership projected to reach 465,000 passengers.

As per reports, the line will originate in Al Ghubaiba, one of the city’s historic districts. It will then move through Mina Rashid and City Walk, and into key commercial hubs such as Business Bay and Mohammed Bin Rashid City. It will then move towards Nad Al Sheba,  Meydan, and Mohammed bin Rashid Gardens, before reaching newer residential clusters including Al Barsha South and Jumeirah Village Circle (JVC), and terminating at Jumeirah Golf Estates.

The potential stations include Al Mina Street,  Al Satwa near Satwa Bus Station,  Al Satwa Road,  City Walk, Business Bay Interchange,  Burj Khalifa Road,  District 1 near High Speed Rail line,  District 1, Nad Al Sheba, Dubai Hills, Global Village, Future Meydan Etihad Rail Interchange,  Hadaeq Mohammed Bin Rashid, Dubai Miracle Garden, Jumeirah Village Circle, Dubai Production City and Jumeirah Golf Estates Interchange.

The route will integrate with the Red Line at Business Bay and Jumeirah Golf Estates, and with the Green Line at Al Ghubaiba, creating multiple interchange points that enhance network efficiency and passenger flow across the city.

The line will intersect with the existing Green Line at Al Ghubaiba and the existing Red Line at Business Bay. An interchange with the future Etihad Rail passenger station will happen at Meydan, while Jumeirah Golf Estates will witness an interchange with the  Red Line and a future Etihad Rail passenger station.

The project will also feature an advanced tunnel network built using the latest technology for tunnelling and will be twice the size of the current Dubai Metro tunnels.

According to the Roads and Transport Authority, the Gold Line is expected to serve 1.5  million residents by 2040. The daily ridership is projected to reach 465,000 passengers and will also ease congestion on existing corridors, particularly reducing pressure on the Red Line between BurJuman and ONPASSIVE stations by 23 per cent.
