With the Gulf crisis affecting airlines across the world, IndiGo on Saturday announced its limited flight schedule to the Middle East for March 16-28.
IndiGo will operate 252 weekly services to and from the Middle East from March 16-28, the airline said in a statement.
This includes 126 weekly flights to and from Saudi Arabia—close to its regular schedule—28 weekly flights to and from Oman, and 98 weekly flights to and from the UAE.
"The airline will continue to monitor the situation given the ongoing geopolitical risk, airspace restrictions, airport constraints, consistently rising fuel and insurance costs, and other uncertainties," the airline's statement read.
This comes after the airline on Friday announced a fuel surcharge on flight tickets that came into effect on Saturday, following Air India, SpiceJet, and a number of international airlines doing so due to rising fuel prices.
"This measure is taken due to the significant surge in fuel prices following the ongoing geopolitical issues in the Middle East," the airline had said in an earlier statement, citing data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA), which indicated a more than 85 per cent increase in fuel prices in the region.
