A Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) office inside the US Embassy compound in Riyadh was struck by Iranian drones on Tuesday, causing structural damage and sparking a minor fire within the compound. There were no immediate reports of injuries.

The attack came amid Tehran's escalating counterattacks in the region, following coordinated airstrikes by US and Israeli forces in Iran.

Saudi Arabia’s Defense Ministry confirmed that two drones targeted the embassy, causing a limited fire and material damage. Washington has issued a warning for Americans to avoid the embassy until further notice, citing the attack, and cancelled routine and emergency consular services.

A security alert issued by the US also cautioned that there is a threat of imminent missile and UAV (unmanned aerial vehicle) attacks in Dhahran, advising citizens not to approach the US Consulate there.

Meanwhile, in Dubai, a fire broke out late Tuesday night near the US Consulate General, following a suspected drone strike. Emergency response teams quickly arrived on the scene, and the fire was fully extinguished.

"The fire near the US Consulate in Dubai has been fully extinguished, with no injuries reported. Dubai authorities reaffirm their commitment to ensuring everyone's safety and security," the Dubai Media Office posted on X.

In response to the growing threat, the US announced it has begun facilitating charter flights from various Middle Eastern countries to assist US citizens stranded in the region.

The region is on the brink of a broader war as the US-Israel operation in Iran sparked a strong response from Tehran which has launched a barrage of missiles to the neighbouring Gulf countries hosting US military bases.
