As the conflict escalated further on the fourth day and the US continued its military operation against Iran, President Donald Trump claimed that it was too late for peace talks.

"Their air defense, Air Force, Navy, and Leadership is gone. They want to talk. I said Too Late!" Trump said in a Truth Social post.

His remarks come even as reports said the death toll in Iran has risen to 787, including children and school teachers.

Trump had earlier said that the conflict could last four to five weeks, but that the US was prepared to go longer.

There seems to be no indication of peace as the conflict continued with more strikes and counter-strikes.

Iranian drones struck the US Embassy in Saudi Arabia, causing minor damage and sparking a fire, after targeting the diplomatic mission in Kuwait earlier. In response, Washington closed those facilities and directed non-essential government staff and their families to depart several countries across the Middle East.

A source told news agency Reuters that Israel’s campaign was initially planned to span two weeks but was progressing more quickly than anticipated.

The source, who is familiar with Israel’s war strategy, said the objective was to topple Iran’s clerical leadership, with no fixed timeline for accomplishing that goal.

However, according to the source, the Israeli military was moving through its list of targets faster than expected, following early successes that eliminated senior Iranian leaders and dismantled key defence systems.
