Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who was in the US for a two-day visit, had a unique gift for President Donald Trump that left the latter impressed. Netanyahu is said to have gifted him a golden pager and a regular one, referencing the clandestine 'pager operation' carried out by Israel in Lebanon that killed over 30 Hezbollah operatives. Though Israel did not initially claim responsibility for the attacks, it was swiftly attributed to Mossad.
Netanyahu later acknowledged that Israeli intelligence was behind the sabotage and a spokesperson said the prime minister had personally approved the pager operation.
An elated Trump reportedly responded to Netanyahu's gesture, applauding the operation. "That was a great operation," Trump responded, according to Channel 12 news.
Trump also had a gift for Netanyahu, which was a photo of them from the visit. "To Bibi, a great leader" was etched on it.
Netanyahu was the first world leader to visit Trump after the latter's inauguration as the President.
He also endorsed Trump's proposal to relocate Gazans from the Strip calling the plan "remarkable."
"This is the first good idea that I’ve heard," Netanyahu said in an interview with Fox News host Sean Hannity. "It’s a remarkable idea. And I think it should be examined, pursued, and done — because I think it will create a different future for everyone."
