A 41-year-old man from Karnataka who was employed in Israel has been reportedly missing for the past 10 days. The man’s family has now reached out to the Indian Embassy, requesting help in locating him.

Shadrak Emmanuval is a native of Mangaluru and resides in Kodakkal, Kannur, near Padil. He has reportedly been in Israel for over one year and was initially employed with an Israeli company in Tel Aviv. Later, he worked with UCT Liquid Solutions and was residing in Nof Hagalil near Nazareth.

According to his family, Shadrak’s last text message to his wife, Daisy Emmanuval, was on October 16 at 8:49 pm. Prior to the message, Shadrak had talked to the family through a video call around 8:05pm. During the call, he was reportedly seen at a park in Nof HaGalil with palm and date trees around him. Since then, he has been unreachable.

The family suspects that he may have travelled to Beersheba. A TOI report quoted his nephew, Jonathan, who said his search history and phone location details coincided with this theory.

Beersheba is an area in Southern Israel, roughly 200km from Nof Hagalil. The area carries significant geopolitical risks, as it is periodically subject to rocket fire and missile alarms.

According to Jonathan, Shadrak had searched for bus tickets to Beersheba, and his phone’s last live location also said Beersheba.

His search history from Beersheba showed a search for the next place, within the Palestinian state of Hebron, located 43 kms away. The family fears he may have gotten caught in local unrest, as there was a “protest going on regarding elections.”

As Hebron is located in the southern area of the conflicted West Bank, multiple international bodies have issued travel advisories because of unpredictable violence and active military operations.

Daisy submitted a plea to the Indian embassy on October 21, asking them to intervene as quickly as possible.

“We are deeply worried about his safety and respectfully request your urgent intervention in this matter,” Daisy’s statement read. The family has requested the Embassy to coordinate with Israeli police, check local hospitals and verify whether Shadrak has been detained.
