A man allegedly ran over his son and daughter-in-law with his SUV in Rajasthan. According to media reports, the incident took place around 12:50 am on Tuesday in the village of Changoi in Taranagar. The accused was identified as 60-year-old Ramchandra Repaswal.
On Tuesday night, Repaswal and his 40-year-old son, Ravindra, were discussing the Panchayat elections taking place next month. According to the police, Ravindra was Ramchandra’s only child.
Repaswal wanted to compete for Sarpanch. However, Ravindra and his 35-year-old wife, Mahindra, opposed the idea of Repaswal being a candidate, leading to a heated argument.
Ravindra subsequently left the house in anger and was headed to a weighbridge owned by Repaswal. Mahindra followed him, attempting to pacify and persuade her husband.
Repaswal later reached the spot along with his wife, Dharma Devi, and another argument broke out. As Ravindra and Mahindra returned home, Repaswal, enraged, struck both of them with his Bolero. They were pushed into a Mahindra pickup vehicle, and they both died on the spot. Upon receiving information, the Taranagar police arrived at the scene and detained Ramchandra.
Taranagar Deputy Superintendent of Police Rohit Sankhla said that the election had led to repeated arguments in the family over the past several days. Polling for the panch and sarpanch posts in the Taranagar area is scheduled for November 16 in the fourth phase of the panchayat elections. Repaswal has been preparing to contest despite the objections from his family members.
The bodies are undergoing post-mortem examination and are currently stored in the nearby Taranagar hospital mortuary.
The couple, Ravindra and Mahindra, were married for approximately 13 years and have a 10-year-old daughter together. The police are investigating the matter and will take further action based on the report.
