After being detained for the third time in two days, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi said the Congress and the INDIA bloc are not going to stop protesting till Chief Election Commissioner Gynaesh Kumar steps down.
Rahul, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and other INDIA bloc MPs were released on Wednesday night after two hours of detention.
"We are not going to stop protesting till Gyanesh Kumar resigns," Rahul posted on X, posting a video from the police bus in which he was forcibly carried away from the protest site.
"This is a fight to protect the most sacred thing in this country," he added. "There is nothing that Narendra Modi and Amit Shah can do that will stop us."
In the video accompanying the post, Rahul said Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat and Gyanesh Kumar can do all this stuff, "but we are going to bring them to justice. My guarantee that all four of them will be brought to justice."
"This is all panic reaction, This is all fear," he said while in the police bus, referring to the detention. "They are going to be brought to justice, mark my words. They have attacked the most sacred thing in this country. They have attacked the Constitution, they have attacked the voice of the people and they are going to pay for this."
Earlier in the day, Delhi police filed an FIR against Rahul, Priyanka and other opposition leaders for forcibly entering Akashvani Bhawan during a march against the CEC on Tuesday.
Responding to the FIR, the opposition leader said, "I have 45 FIRs against me. My target is that there should be 100 FIRs against me. Every FIR against me is a medal for me."
