A man was charred to death after his car crashed into a divider and burst into flames in Telangana’s Suryapet district on Sunday morning.
The victim was identified as Dr Kasakurti Jagadish, a neurosurgeon associated with Mamata Hospital in Khammam. He was the head of the neurosurgery department.
The accident occurred on NH365BB near Pillalamarri around 7:15 am. The victim was travelling to Hyderabad, where his family resides.
According to Khammam Rural CI G Rajashekar, lack of sleep may have caused him to lose control of the vehicle and hit the divider.
The fire engulfed the vehicles in minutes, and the victim was trapped inside. Fire personnel rushed to the scene and brought the blaze under control within around 10 minutes.
Police who first responded to the scene had difficulty establishing the victim’s identity.
The victim was identified using the vehicle's registration number.
The body of the victim has been moved to Suiryapet Government General Hospital for a postmortem. Police are investigating the circumstances that led to the accident and are probing the details.
