Right after the Gurugram hit-and-run incident shed light on the danger women face from rash male drivers on the road, another woman was spotted being dragged on the bonnet of a car in Lucknow.
The incident took place in Janeshwar Mishra Park.
According to preliminary information from the police, the victim, Anamika, reportedly spotted her partner with another woman and tried to confront him. During the dispute, the man, Shahnawaz, accelerated the vehicle and hit the woman. She was carried on the bonnet of the vehicle for a long distance as the man continued driving.
A video of the incident has now gone viral. The woman, who is wearing a white top and black trousers, is barefoot and screaming at the man.
“I won't die. Do whatever you want. Stop the car,” she is heard saying. She also hits her hands on the car hood.
The incident turned horrific when the woman fell off the bonnet, and the car was driven towards her again. Onlookers were concerned the man was attempting to run over the woman again. The driver subsequently fled the spot.
The woman was injured and was attended to by passers-by who gathered around her.
Police were informed later.
Police officials have launched an investigation and are examining the video and other available evidence to identify the accused. The vehicle involved in the incident has been identified.
