Delhi continues to receive heavy rain on Sunday, with showers lashing several areas of the NCR, including Noida. On Sunday, the minimum temperature plunged to 24.6 degrees Celsius, which is one notch below the season’s average.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Sunday is likely to witness a cloudy sky with moderate rain and the maximum temperature is expected to reach around 32 degrees Celsius.

The weather department also added that a spell of very light to light rain at many places, accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning, is expected towards morning. The maximum is likely to be around 31-33 degrees Celsius on Sunday. The minimum temperature is expected to be around 24-26 degrees Celsius.

The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for rain today.

However, the weather is expected to clear from Monday. In the next few days, the temperature will start rising again with the decrease in rain activity.

The change in weather has come due to the westward shift of the low pressure area formed over Madhya Pradesh and the active monsoon trough around Delhi.

Not just in Delhi, the IMD has issued a warning of heavy to very heavy rain, thunderstorms and strong winds in 24 states, including Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, West Bengal, Odisha and Maharashtra. Wind speed can reach up to 70 kilometres per hour in some areas.

The IMD has warned that monsoon is going to be active in a large part of the country in many parts of North India, Central India, and Eastern India. People in hilly areas have been advised to remain vigilant due to the risk of landslides. People living in flood-prone and low-lying areas have also been urged to exercise caution.

Maharashtra

Light to moderate rain is expected to continue in Maharashtra for the next three days. Monsoon showers are expected in the Konkan-Goa region, while scattered rain is possible in other parts of the state. Rain is also expected in some districts of Marathwada and Central Maharashtra, including Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Jalna, Beed, Latur, Nanded, Parbhani, Hingoli, Dharashiv, Pune, Nashik, Ahmednagar, Dhule, Nandurbar, Jalgaon, Kolhapur, Sangli, Satara, and Solapur.

A warning for heavy rain and thunderstorms has also been issued for Uttar Pradesh, including in in Meerut, Muzaffarnagar, Agra, Mathura, Aligarh, Bijnor, Badaun and Pilibhit. Several districts in Bihar may experience rain, thunderstorms, and lightning on Sunday. The monsoon will also be active in Jharkhand, Bihar's neighbouring state. Heavy rain and thunderstorms are expected in several districts, including Ranchi.
