The CCTV footage of the Lucknow Divya Mishra murder has revealed how SBI field officer Manas Vajpeyi argued with his wife, Divya Mishra, before firing the gun at her. The video also showed a guard running away as Manas brandished a gun.
Three CCTV footages related to the incident have now surfaced. In the first, Divya can be seen getting into a car to go to the office.
In another video, people at the ICICI Bank branch in Gomti Nagar, where Divya was working, were seen reacting to Manas. On hearing the gunshot noise, other employees and people were seen coming out of the bank. While others were seen trying to stop Manas, the armed guard fled the scene.
Meanwhile, eyewitnesses said the accused pointed the pistol at the bank employees, forcing them to flee. Manas then left the scene in the same auto-rickshaw without a license plate. Divya, seriously injured, was immediately rushed to the hospital, where doctors declared her dead.
An eyewitness also reported that Divya and her colleagues had just returned from meeting a client at the bank when Manas arrived in an auto-rickshaw without a license plate.
Manas had two pistols in each hand. While talking to Divya, he took out his weapon and fired.
After killing Divya, Manas returned to his home at Husadiya Square. He posted a WhatsApp status detailing the murder, accusing Divya of cheating on him as a reason for killing her. He also announced that he would kill his sister and commit suicide, which he did soon.
Luvkush, who runs a restaurant rented on the premises where Manas lived, told PTI that he saw him rushing into the residence, profusely sweating, apparently after the shooting occurred near the bank. "I even asked him, 'bhaiya, what's the matter? You appear stressed.' But he told me that it was nothing, just some office issues. Then he went inside," the restaurant owner said.
People working at the restaurant said that after entering the house, he locked the door. "Then he played the Hanuman Chalisa at a high volume on the television. We could hear it. When the door was opened after the incident, the Hanuman Chalisa was still playing loudly on the TV," they said.
