The mother of the teen girl who allegedly abused Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a viral video is now "deeply upset and angry" that the case against her daughter has not been withdrawn.

This comes after PM Modi had released a video "forgiving" teens who used abusive language against him after the girl's video rant went viral, calling them "mischievous kids".

"These young people should be embraced, not punished," he had said, arguing that legal action would not correct the larger social problem.

Yet, Ratna Singh, a lawyer who represents the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), had said that she had spoken to the girl's mother, who was "deeply upset and angry" that the Zero FIR against her daughter has not been withdrawn yet.

Ratna explained that the girl's mother said she had already apologised for her daughter's expletive-filled video calling for resignations at a July 23 CJP protest.

"Despite Ruchika releasing an apology video and Prime Minister @narendramodi publicly stating that she (& others) should be forgiven, the FIR against her child has still not been withdrawn," the CJP lawyer said.

Notably, apart from her mother's apology, the girl herself has apologised in two videos—while the first one was released at the height of the backlash against the viral video, the second was released later on, in which she thanks the PM for forgiving her.

Yet, as per the CJP lawyer, the Zero FIR—filed under Sections 352 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace), 353(1) (statements conducing to public mischief) and 356(1) (defamation) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS)—had not yet been withdrawn.

The CJP has now assured the family that no legal action will be taken against the teen, a day after CJP founder Abhijit Dipke argued that the case was overblown.

He also alleged that BJP IT cell members had for years used “reprehensible” language against women while many of them prominently displayed 'Followed by PM Modi' in their social media bios.
