The National Testing Agency (NTA) is likely to announce the NEET-UG re-examination results by July 20, a senior official said on Thursday, adding that the new academic session will begin on schedule.

The official, while declining to confirm a specific date, said the agency is working “on a war footing” to release the results at the earliest.

“We would not like to give out any date as of now, but the result will be out by July 20. Normally, results are announced within 45 days of the examination, but this time, as we have conducted the exam in 37 days, we will announce the results much earlier,” the official told ANI.

The NEET-UG re-examination was held on June 21 after the earlier exam conducted on May 3 was cancelled following allegations of a paper leak. The NTA released the provisional answer key on June 25, and candidates were allowed to submit objections until June 28.

According to the official, nearly 10,000 challenges have been received from aspirants. “We need to examine all the challenges one by one, review the supporting evidence, and respond to each of them,” he said.

Despite the disruption, the official said the upcoming academic year is unlikely to be delayed.

Once the results are declared, the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) will release the counselling schedule for the 15 per cent All India Quota (AIQ) seats, as well as admissions to AIIMS, JIPMER, central and deemed universities. State authorities will separately conduct counselling for the remaining 85 per cent of seats under the state quota.

Meanwhile, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the alleged paper leak is ongoing. A total of 13 accused have been arrested so far.
