Gurgaon techie dies in Mussoorie homestay while with husband; father says he suspects no foul play despite disturbing details
A 27-year-old newly married software engineer was found dead under mysterious circumstances at a homestay in Mussoorie while on vacation with her husband on Monday.
The deceased woman, identified as P Radha Gayathri, was a resident of Delhi’s Kidwai Nagar area and was employed at a tech firm in Gurgaon.
Her husband, Saumya Sricharan, is also a software professional and reportedly worked in Pune,
On Sunday night, Gayathri and Sricharan checked into a homestay near Musoorie. Monday morning, Musoorie police were alerted that she had been found dead.
The police said that the couple arrived in Rishikesh from Delhi on June 13 and checked into the homestay at around 11:30 pm on Sunday.
At around 1:36 am on Monday, Sricharan and Gayatri sent a selfie from the homestay to Gayathri’s father, Parupadi Sudhaar.
Sricharan told police that they went to sleep around 3:30 am after consuming alcohol and that when he woke up in the morning, he found his wife unresponsive in a puddle of urine. She was also naked and had blood coming out of her nose.
“At 8 am, Sricharan called me to say that Gayatri was dead,” Sudhakar told the Indian Express.
Police said that medical staff tried to resuscitate her in the ambulance, but that she had died.
The body was on the floor, and there were bloodstains on the bedsheet.
Police also found two empty liquor bottles and food in the room.
Investigators said that they were waiting for the postmortem report to establish the exact cause of the woman’s death.
Gayathri’s father, Sudhakar, a retired army man, arrived in Mussoorie on Tuesday after he was informed about her death. He told TOI that losing his daughter was the “greatest pain” of his life, but said that he does not suspect foul play in her death.
The couple got married on November 8, 2025. Gayrthri’s friend and Sricharan’s cousin had introduced them to each other,
Gayatri and Sricharan were both scheduled to visit Vishakapatnam for Sudhakar’s birthday on Wednesday, June 19.
Sricharan’s family is originally from Vishakapatnam and has been based in Delhi since 1989, according to his father Durga Prasad.
“She was working in Hyderabad and he in Pune. When they got acquainted, they informed us, and they got married. Their engagement ceremony was in October, and in November, they had their wedding,” Prasad said.
She had moved to her in-laws’ house in Delhi after the wedding and then got a job in Gurgaon. She had also purchased a flat in Vizag a few months before her marriage, and Sudhakar had planned to perform puja at the new residence with the couple after his birthday.
Sirhsnaran, who is currently working in Pune also expected to be transferred to Gurgaon soon.
According to the post-mortem, no injury marks were found on her body.
The doctors have preserved the viscera for forensic analysis.
Mussoorie station-in-charge, Devender Singh Chauhan, said that the woman had been receiving treatment for low blood pressure. He said that police have collected all the materials from the scene to establish a sequence of events.
