The Indian Meteorological Department had forecast partly cloudy skies with very light to light rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms on Tuesday.
The department said that surface winds across the region would reach speeds between 40 and 50 kmph. Gusts may occur at isolated places and may reach speeds of 60 kilometre per hour.
The maximum temperatures in the region are likely to be between 37 and 39 degrees Celsius.
The rains are expected to bring some relief from the continuous heat.
The weather department has also predicted that the the storms and rain may continue till June 20
Similar weather condition are also expected in eastern Uttar Pradesh, including in Varanasi, Azamgarh and Prayagraj.
Delhi will remain cloudy from June 17 to 19th. The maximum temperatures on June 17 are expected to be around 40 degrees Celcius with minimum temperatures at 28 degrees Celcius.
The temperatures are likely to go up by 1 degree on June 18th.
Sudden dust storms are also expected in many areas.
Metrologists say that the western disturbance, along with lower-level winds are causing frequent changes in the weather in Delhi.
The south-west monsoon is expected to reach Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana and Uttarakhand by the end of June.
The monsoon had already advanced into Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal, Telangana, Odisha, Jharkhand, and some other parts of Bihar.
Despite the rains, the country is set to see a weak monsoon due to the effects of El Niño.
