A woman was stabbed to death by her ex-boyfriend and colleague inside the private office where they worked in Punjab’s Mohali on Thursday.
The accused Harvinder Mann, who also goes by Harry, later tried to attempt suicide by stabbing himself multiple times in the throat.
The victim, Dimple, 30, and the accused were reportedly in a relationship for more than three years. The two worked together at a private courier company
The incident was captured on the CCTV cameras in the office.
The accused entered the office at around 7:40 pm on Thursday and stabbed the woman from behind while she was writing at her desk.
When the tried to run, the accused followed her and dragged her by the hair to the company’s door and kept stabbing her.
About four to five employees attempted to stop him, but failed.
Harry stabbed Dimple about 20 times before her body went cold.
He then walked to the officer where the victim sat and stabbed himself in the throat in an attempt at suicide.
He reportedly stabbed himself multiple times.
The employees who were shocked at the incident contacted the police and rushed the two to the nearby Fortis Hospital.
The woman was declared dead, and the accused was in a critical condition.
The private company they work for provides packing and moving services. During this time, the two became friends and reportedly entered a relationship.
However, they reportedly went through a breakup some time ago before the killing.
The accused was reportedly mentally distressed after struggling to come to terms with the breakup and had reportedly made attempts to reconcile with the victim.
His attempts were unsuccessful.
Police registered a murder case and have launched an investigation.
The woman's family, who reside in Patiala, were informed of the murder
CCTV footage and forensic evidence were also collected from the scene of the crime.
