In a new twist in the Khan Sir’s Coaching Institute vandalism case in Patna, police have now filed an FIR under the Arms Act against the Faisal Khan, the man running the institute.
He was also booked on charges of giving false information.
On Thursday, two of his institute’s security guards were detained and questioned on charges of firing shots.
The incident came to light after a video captured on June 2 reportedly showed Khan Sir’s guards opening fire during the confrontation. The video was released by the rival Gyan Bindu Coaching Centre.
Following the video’s release, the police took the two guards into custody.
Their weapons were also seized for forensic examination.
When the incident began on Tuesday, Khan had told the media that shots were fired at the institute. However, hours later, he changed his statement, saying that he only reported what the guards claimed.
Both of the guards are currently in police custody.
Police officials said that after the firing outside the coaching centre, an attempt was made to hide the bullet casings.
When questioned by police, Khan said that the shots were fired in self-defence.
The case has taken a turn, and police are examining competing claims from both sides and institutions.
During a press briefing, the Gyan Bindu coaching representatives alleged that it was Khan Sir’s institute that was responsible for the firing.
They also made further claims, stating that the incident was preplanned and questioning the arrest of the coaching operator, Roshan Anand. They argue that the footage showed that he was not present at the scene during the firing.
