A CBI team on Thursday arrested retired judge Giribala Singh at her Bhopal residence in connection with the dowry death case of her daughter-in-law Twisha Sharma.
The arrest comes a day after the Madhya Pradesh High Court quashed Girbala's anticipatory bail. The CBI team were seen entering Giribala's house in Bhopal's Bag Mughaliya extension area and questioned her earlier in the day. A Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team also reached the residence to gather evidence.
Twisha was allegedly found hanging at her marital home in Bhopal on May 12. Following this, Giribala received anticipatory bail from a sessions court on May 15.

However, Twisha's family alleged before the high court that Giribala Singh attempted to influence evidence after obtaining anticipatory bail. Following this, the MP high court quashed her bail.
Madhya Pradesh police initially registered an FIR against Giribala and her son Samarth Singh under Sections 80(2) (punishment for dowry death), 85 (husband or his relative subjecting woman to cruelty) and 3(5) (common intention) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita along with relevant provisions of the Dowry Prohibition Act.
After CBI took over the probe on Monday, the central agency re-registered the FIR under same sections. A Bhopal court on Wednesday sent Samarth to CBI custody two days.
Twisha's lawyers said her in-laws were neither permitting her to live happily nor to cry and that she was "badly stuck". The CBI counsel told the high court that it is alleged that her husband and mother-in-law doubted her character when she was found to be pregnant and forced her to undergo abortion.
Twisha reportedly asked her mother to take her away from her marital home on May 5. A week later, on May 12, Twisha called her mother and alleged that her husband was shouting at her, after which the call was disconnected. On the same day, at 10.37 pm, her mother-in-law answered the call of her parents. Later in the day, Twisha was found hanging at her matrimonial home and was declared dead.
