After Samarth Singh's surrender in connection with the Twisha Sharma death case, the model-turned-actor's family raised serious allegations that it was a "well-planned conspiracy".
The victim's brother-in-law, Saurabh Sharma, alleged that the surrender in Jabalpur was strategically planned. "He did something in the process. Earlier, when we were in the high court, he was on bail. He withdrew his bail application and planned his surrender. Before we could go through the case details or the court order could come, he went to the police station and surrendered," Sharma told ANI.
He also added that there was a lot of indecency going on there.
The family had also raised allegations that Singh was getting VIP treatment inside the district court premises after being taken into custody.
Counsel for Twisha Sharma's father Navnidhi Sharma, Anurag Srivastava, alleged that Samarth Singh was sitting inside Courtroom No 32, the courtroom of the District and Sessions Judge, shortly before he appeared before the media.
"Under what authority was he allowed to sit in that room?" Srivastava questioned.
Earlier, the family alleged that Samarth Singh and his mother, retired judge Giribala Singh, used their influence to delay action in the case.
Singh, who had been on the run for more than a week after an FIR was registered against him and his mother, withdrew his anticipatory bail application filed in the Madhya Pradesh High Court on Friday, and appeared at the Jabalpur district court to surrender.
Samrath had arrived at the court wearing a face mask, sunglasses and a cap. The court witnessed high drama for nearly an hour when he arrived to surrender.
Twisha Sharma, a 33-year-old Noida native, was found hanging at her marital home in Bhopal's Katara Hills area on May 12. While her in-laws allege she suffered from drug addiction, her family maintains she was harassed for dowry, leading to her death.
