A botany teacher from Pune had been detained by the Central Bureau of Investigation in connection with the NEET UG Biology paper leak case.
Manisha Gurunath Mandhare was arrested in Delhi after being questioned by the CBI. The total number of arrests made in connection with the leak has now risen to nine.
The teacher worked for the national Eligibility cum Entrance Test (Undergraduate) process following her appointment by the National Testing Agency (NTA) as an expert, the CBI said.
She had gotten in touch with NEET candidates in April through Manisha Waghmare, a woman who was arrested earlier by the CBI. Manisha Mandhare reportedly gave coaching classes for the students at her house.
She had shared important questions from Botany and Zoology and made the student note them down on their note books. She also made the student mark the question in their textbooks, the CBI said.
Most of the questions she asked the students marked the question on the examination paper, which was answered by aspirants on May 3..
The nine accused arrested in the case are from Delhi, Jaipur, Gurugram, Nashik, Pune and Ahliyanagar. The CBI also conducted searched six locations across the country and seized evidence, including documents, bank statements, and mobile phones.
The arrest of the botany teacher came a day after the arrest of Professor PV Kulkarni, a chemistry teacher who was also associated with the NTA as part of the panel that set up the question paper.
