A shocking investigation is unfolding in one of Hyderabad’s most posh residential areas, Jubilee Hills, on Friday, after the wife of a former IPS officer was murdered in her own home. Police now suspect that a woman from Nepal who was hired as house help reportedly plotted the murder with the help of some accomplices.

Sunanda, 55, wife of retired IPS officer Vinay Ranjan Raj, was found dead at her home on Friday on the First floor of the three-story, high-security house in the Administration Nagar area.

She was reportedly strangled to death. Police also found that valuables from the home, including gold jewellery, were missing. The victim was alone at the hoe during the incident. Vinay Ranjan was in Bengaluru.

Police now say they are investigating the role of the domestic help, Kalpana and are questioning family acquaintances. The accused reportedly entered the house around 1 am. Gold Jewellery and cash were found to be missing from the house.

Neighbours had alerted the police after noticing suspicious activity at the home.

Police who arrived at the location inspected the crime scene and collected evidence.

A murder case has also been registered.

Police are investigating the case from all angles. They suspect that this was not just robbery but a preplanned crime.

The domestic help had worked at the home for the past eight Months. Police suspect that the accused informed three other accomplices that the victim would be alone that night.

The domestic help is now absconding, and police are on the lookout for her.

Hyderabad Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar has acknowledged the involvement of a Nepali gang in the murder. Police have also formed several special teams and have begun searches in various areas of the city.
