Exit polls for the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections 2026 indicate that the ruling DMK-led alliance, headed by Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, is likely to retain power.

Polling for all 234 constituencies in the state was conducted in a single phase on April 23, witnessing a robust voter turnout of around 84.6 per cent.

Exit Poll details:

P-Marq exit poll predicts a return for the DMK in Tamil Nadu Elections 2026. The following are the predictions for DMK, AIADMK and TVK

DMK: 125-145

AIADMK: 65-85

TVK: 16-26

OTH: 1-6

Matrize, too, has predicted DMK's return to Tamil Nadu with 122-132 seats. The following are the predictions:

DMK-INC+ 122-132

NDA 87-100

TVK 10-12

OTHERS 0-6

From previous voting trends, Tamil Nadu has seen power switching between AIADMK and DMK.

According to multiple exit poll projections, the DMK-led Secular Progressive Alliance is expected to emerge as the frontrunner, with some surveys even suggesting a comfortable majority.

A major highlight of the 2026 election has been the emergence of actor Vijay’s Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), which has added a new dimension to the state’s traditionally bipolar political contest. Exit polls suggest that TVK may not win a large number of seats but could significantly impact vote shares by drawing support away from established parties.

The final verdict will be known on May 4, when votes are counted across the state.
