The incident occurred on Saturday following a minor traffic dispute. A vehicle driven by one Yusuf Khan allegedly splashed water on Shoaib Khan, a relative of Pathan's in-laws, triggering a verbal altercation. The argument quickly escalated into a scuffle and subsequently into a violent confrontation.
CCTV visuals of the incident show an altercation turned into violence. People gathered around and started beating with sticks as well.
Police said Yusuf Khan was on his way to lodge a complaint at the police station when he was intercepted by Khalid Khan and others, who allegedly assaulted him. Police said they have launched a detailed investigation into the incident.
In a counter-complaint, Umarsad Pathan filed a cross-FIR against the complainant at the same police station where the original case against him and his father, Khalid Khan, was registered.
A local court in Mumbai is scheduled to hear arguments on Wednesday on the bail pleas of Pathan's relatives in connection with the alleged assault.
