Two colleges affiliated with Delhi University received email bomb threats on Monday, prompting the evacuation of students and faculty from their campuses.

Multiple agencies, including bomb disposal squads and sniffer dog teams, were deployed to Ramjas College and Miranda House, where thorough search operations were carried out. However, no suspicious objects were found.

According to the police, the college administrations received emails at around 8:17 am alerting them to a potential explosive device on campus. “Although the emails did not explicitly mention a bomb in the body of the message, the subject lines referred to bomb threats,” officials said.

The college authorities immediately informed the police, triggering a swift response from security agencies. Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) Raja Banthia said that after the Ramjas College principal reported the threat, bomb detection and disposal teams (BDDT) and police conducted detailed checks at both campuses.

Students, faculty, and staff were evacuated as a precautionary measure, and the premises were cordoned off during the operation.

Although nothing suspicious was found, the police have registered a case and launched an investigation.

Ajay Arora, principal of Ramjas College, said practical examinations had been scheduled for the day. “But the moment we received the bomb threat, we immediately evacuated the college and asked students to return home,” he told Hindustan Times.
