Two sisters from Bhopal have been arrested for allegedly running a sex racket under the pretence of providing jobs to young women from economically weaker families.

Identified as Amreen and Afreen, the two sisters were earlier residents of a slum in Abbas Nagar and recently shifted to the posh Sagar Royal Villa near Ashima Mall in Hoshangabad, Bhopal. Police suspect that their lavish lifestyle was possibly funded by illicit earnings from the sex racket.

Their associate Chandan Yadav was also arrested by Bagsewania police while two other accused – Bilal, Yasir and Chanu – are still at large. Police have registered cases against the accused under sections related to rape, criminal conspiracy, and forced religious conversion.

The racket was busted after two women, aged 32 and 21, came forward to reveal their harrowing ordeals. They both contacted each other through Instagram and decided to file separate complaints.

Police said the sisters lured women from low-income backgrounds with promises of domestic jobs paying around Rs 10,000 per month, plus free housing and meals.

Both complainants alleged that they were forced to socialise with wealthy men at parties, pubs, and lounges and pressured to get drunk and drugged. They also alleged that they were sexually assaulted in some cases.

The first complainant, a maid who worked at Amreen’s house, accused Chandan Yadav of raping her at his sister’s residence in Narayan Nagar. She alleged that he blackmailed her and threatened to kill her if she complained. She also accused Yasir and Bilal of drugging and raping her.

The second complainant was identified as a beautician from Mungeli, Chhattisgarh. She claimed that in December 2025, she was brought to Ahmedabad under the guise of work where Amreen's relative Yasir raped her. She also claimed that Bilal laced her tea with an intoxicant and raped her after she fell unconscious. She also claimed that Chandan Yadav raped her several times between August 2025 and January 2026.

She alleged that whenever she tried to resist or escape, she was blackmailed with compromising photos.

Adding to the gravity of the crime, the victim said she was forced to change her religion, wear a burqa and offer namaz against her will. Chandan said he himself got converted and promised marriage into a good family. However, she fled in January and stayed with her relatives in Chhattisgarh before returning to Bhopal in February to file a complaint.
