Jodhpur double suicide: Sisters, aged 25 and 23, found dead hours before their wedding

Two sisters in Jodhpur, aged 25 and 23, died by suicide just one day before their scheduled weddings. Police have not confirmed a motive for their deaths

Two sisters, who were preparing for their upcoming weddings, died by suicide in Manai village in Jodhpur after allegedly consuming poison.

Shoba, 25 and Vimla, 23, were scheduled to be married on Saturday and were in the midst of their wedding preparations on Friday when the incident occurred.

The family had rushed them to a private hospital in Jodhpur upon discovering that the sisters where they were pronounced dead.

ADCP (West) Roshan Meena said that he sisters had gone to bed around midnight on Friday as wedding festivities continued into the night.

"At about 4 am, their health suddenly deteriorated, prompting family members to take them to a private hospital. They were declared dead on arrival, and their bodies were brought back home, where funeral preparations began," the report quoted him as saying.

After receiving the information police arrived at the scene and stopped the funeral preparation, which had begun. The sisters' bodies were then taken to the mortuary for a post-mortem examination before being returned to the family.

Preliminary investigation indicates that the deaths may have resulted from the ingestion of a poisonous substance. However, police say the exact cause of death will be confirmed once the post-mortem report is completed.

Police also said that no suicide notes were found on the scene.

Officials have reported that there has been no clear motive for the incident and are investigating every angle.

The incident has come after the suicide of three minor sisters, Nishika, Prachi and Pakhi, who jumped off the ninth floor of their building, in Ghaziabad on February 4.
