As with every festival season, the Indian Railways is operating Holi Special trains to deal with the sharp rise in passenger footfall, as thousands of people travel home to celebrate the occasion. With migrant workers from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar expected to leave for their native places for the holidays, most of the special trains leaving from Maharashtra and Gujarat take the DDU–Prayagraj, Chheoki–Jabalpur route, an Aaj Tak report showed.
Here is a list of Holi Special trains and their major stops.
- BETWEEN MAHARASHTRA & BIHAR | Train No. 01481/01482 Pune–Danapur–Pune Special: Running via DDU–Prayagraj Chheoki–Jabalpur, the train will be in service from 23 February to 6 March 2026 on every Monday and Friday. It will depart from Pune at 19:55 hrs and reach DDU at 04:20 hrs on the third day, Buxar at 05:40 hrs, Ara at 06:38 hrs, and arrive at Danapur at 08:00 hrs. Train No. 01482 Danapur–Pune Special will operate from 25 February to 8 March 2026 on every Wednesday and Sunday. It will depart from Danapur at 10:00 hrs, halt at Ara at 10:30 hrs, Buxar at 11:30 hrs, DDU at 13:30 hrs, and reach Pune at 18:15 hrs the next day.
- Train No. 01449/01450 Pune–Danapur–Pune Special: This train, running via DDU–Prayagraj Chheoki–Jabalpur, will operate daily from 21 February to 8 March 2026. It will depart from Pune at 15:30 hrs, reach DDU at 23:00 hrs on the second day, Buxar at 00:16 hrs and Ara at 01:00 hrs on the third day, and arrive at Danapur at 02:45 hrs. Train No. 01450 Danapur–Pune Special will operate daily from 23 February to 10 March 2026. It will depart from Danapur at 05:00 hrs, halt at Ara at 05:30 hrs, Buxar at 06:43 hrs, DDU at 08:55 hrs, and reach Pune at 18:15 hrs the next day.
- Train No. 01143/01144 Lokmanya Tilak–Danapur–Lokmanya Tilak Special: Running via DDU–Prayagraj Chheoki–Jabalpur, the train will be pressed into daily service from 21 February to 8 March 2026. It will depart from Lokmanya Tilak at 10:30 hrs, reach DDU at 15:25 hrs the next day, Buxar at 16:40 hrs, Ara at 17:40 hrs, and arrive at Danapur at 18:45 hrs. Train No. 01144 Danapur–Lokmanya Tilak Special will operate daily from 22 February to 9 March 2026. It will depart from Danapur at 21:30 hrs, halt at Ara at 22:10 hrs, Buxar at 22:50 hrs, DDU at 02:05 hrs on the second day, and reach Lokmanya Tilak at 07:45 hrs on the third day.
- Train No. 01043/01044 Lokmanya Tilak–Samastipur–Lokmanya Tilak Special: Train No. 01043 Lokmanya Tilak–Samastipur Special, running via Muzaffarpur–Hajipur–Patliputra–DDU–Prayagraj Chheoki, will operate on 24 February and 3 March 2026. It will depart from Lokmanya Tilak at 12:15 hrs, reach DDU at 15:25 hrs the next day, Patliputra at 18:55 hrs, Hajipur at 19:55 hrs, and arrive at Samastipur at 23:45 hrs. Train No. 01044 Samastipur–Lokmanya Tilak Special will operate on 26 February and 5 March 2026 (Thursday). It will depart from Samastipur at 03:00 hrs, halt at Hajipur at 05:15 hrs, Patliputra at 06:10 hrs, DDU at 10:50 hrs, and reach Lokmanya Tilak at 16:25 hrs the next day.
- Train No. 05557/05558 Raxaul–Lokmanya Tilak–Raxaul Special: The train, running via Muzaffarpur–Hajipur–Patliputra–DDU–Prayagraj Chheoki, will operate from 10 March to 31 March 2026 on every Tuesday. It will depart from Raxaul at 19:15 hrs, reach Hajipur at 00:01 hrs on the second day, Patliputra at 01:05 hrs, DDU at 05:00 hrs, and arrive at Lokmanya Tilak at 05:50 hrs on the third day. Train No. 05558 Lokmanya Tilak–Raxaul Special will operate from 12 March to 2 April 2026 on every Thursday. It will depart from Lokmanya Tilak at 07:55 hrs, reach DDU at 07:15 hrs the next day, Patliputra at 10:00 hrs, Hajipur at 11:05 hrs, and arrive at Raxaul at 16:50 hrs.
- Train No. 05585/05586 Saharsa–Lokmanya Tilak–Saharsa Special: Running via Muzaffarpur–Hajipur–Patliputra–DDU–Prayagraj Chheoki, will operate from 6 March to 27 March 2026 on every Friday. It will depart from Saharsa at 17:45 hrs, reach Samastipur at 21:00 hrs, Hajipur at 23:15 hrs, Patliputra at 00:50 hrs on the second day, DDU at 05:00 hrs, and arrive at Lokmanya Tilak at 05:30 hrs on the third day. Train No. 05586 Lokmanya Tilak–Saharsa Special will operate from 8 March to 29 March 2026 on every Sunday. It will depart from Lokmanya Tilak at 16:35 hrs, reach DDU at 20:05 hrs on the second day, Patliputra at 00:05 hrs and Hajipur at 00:55 hrs on the third day, Samastipur at 04:00 hrs, and arrive at Saharsa at 09:00 hrs.
- BETWEEN RAJASTHAN & BIHAR | Train No. 04731/04732 Sri Ganganagar–Samastipur–Sri Ganganagar Special: Running via Muzaffarpur–Hajipur–Gorakhpur–Moradabad, will operate from 1 March to 3 March 2026 on every Sunday. It will depart from Sri Ganganagar at 13:25 hrs, reach Gorakhpur at 14:30 hrs the next day, Hajipur at 19:22 hrs, and arrive at Samastipur at 23:30 hrs. Train No. 04732 Samastipur–Sri Ganganagar Special will operate from 3 March to 31 March 2026 on every Tuesday. It will depart from Samastipur at 02:10 hrs, halt at Hajipur at 03:10 hrs, Gorakhpur at 08:15 hrs, and reach Sri Ganganagar at 12:20 hrs the next day.
- BETWEEN GUJARAT & BIHAR | Train No. 09465/09466 Ahmedabad–Darbhanga–Ahmedabad Special: Train No. 09465/66 Ahmedabad–Darbhanga–Ahmedabad Special, running via Muzaffarpur–Chhapra–Lucknow–Jhansi, is being extended as a Holi Special. Train No. 09465 Ahmedabad–Darbhanga Special will operate as a Holi Special on every Friday until 27 March, and Train No. 09466 Darbhanga–Ahmedabad Special will operate on every Monday until 30 March as per its existing schedule and stoppages.
- Train No. 09447/09448 Ahmedabad–Patna–Ahmedabad Special: Train No. 09447/48 Ahmedabad–Patna–Ahmedabad Special, running via DDU–Agra Fort–Kota, is also being extended as a Holi Special. Train No. 09447 Ahmedabad–Patna Special will operate as a Holi Special on every Wednesday until 25 March, and Train No. 09448 Patna–Ahmedabad Special will operate on every Friday until 27 March as per its existing schedule.
