West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has responded to comments made by Union Minister Amit Shah, who accused the TMC of letting in “infiltrators" into the state earlier today.

She compared BJP leaders to 'Dushasan'and ‘Duryodhan', characters from the epic Mahabharat, and said they came to question her on her government’s allotment of land.

She also hit out over deaths during the SIR, specifically of BLOs who were tasked with distributing and collecting the enumeration forms. “Around 60 people died due to SIR. Elderly people are being called for a document verification hearing. If even a single legitimate voter's name is deleted, we will ‘gherao’ the Election Commission office," she said.

On the land allotment issue, the Chief Minister said, "They are saying 'Mamata hasn't given land'! Who has done all the development work? We have. If I didn't give land, how would they extract coal in Bengal? We have given land. Only big talks and lies."

She also questioned Amit Shah, saying that Bengal had “infiltrators,” pointing out, "Only Bengal has infiltrators? No infiltrators in Kashmir? I want to ask one question – then how did the Pahalgam terror attack happen? How did the Delhi blast happen?"

Earlier today, the Union Home Minister had launched an attack on the Mamata Banerjee-led government, saying that “fear and corruption” have become the identity of the state for the last 14 years.

At a press conference in Kolkata, he asked, "I want to ask Mamata Banerjee through this press conference, which government is not giving land to construct proper fencing at the border (Bengal-Bangladesh)? I will say it myself: it is your government which does not give land, which is why the fencing work has not been completed."

He also referred to the SIR without directly mentioning, saying, "We will not just stop infiltrators; the BJP government in Bengal will hunt down each infiltrator and throw them out of the country."
