Gaurav Luthra and Saurabh Luthra, the co-owners of the Goa nightclub where 25 people were killed in a fire on December 6, are likely to be brought back to Delhi from Thailand on Tuesday, a police officer said.

The two brothers had fled to Phuket hours after the fire incident, prompting Indian authorities to approach the Interpol to issue a Blue Corner Notice against them.

The Goa Police are sending a team to the national capital to take custody of the two brothers, the officer was quoted as saying by the Hindustan Times.

“A team from the Goa Police will leave for Delhi later tonight and will be present to secure their custody when they exit the Delhi airport,” he said.

The Luthras were detained by Thai authorities in Phuket on December 11 following an intervention by the Indian mission. All relevant documents related to the two brothers have been transferred through official legal channels.

The Indian government has impounded the passports of the two brothers and submitted a dossier to Thai authorities alleging their involvement in the deaths of 25 people in the fire incident.

Meanwhile, according to a PTI report, the case is likely to be argued before a Bangkok court, and there is no clarity yet on the timeline.

"The matter is expected to move forward once a local court in Bangkok begins hearing the case. However, there is no clarity yet on the timeline, as proceedings will depend on when the judge takes up the matter," the embassy sources were quoted as saying by the news agency.

On Friday, the Indian government sources had claimed that the Thai authorities had initiated the process to deport the Luthra brothers.

However, with legal and diplomatic considerations at play, the embassy sources indicated that the duo is unlikely to return to India in the immediate future.

At least 25 people, including four tourists, were killed in the devastating fire that struck the nightclub 'Birch by Romeo Lane' in North Goa on Saturday night. The popular party venue at Arpora village, around 25 km from the state capital Panaji, opened last year.
