Congress MP Shashi Tharoor from Thiruvananthapuram has skipped yet another party meeting this time, chaired by Rahul Gandhi.

According to sources in the party, Throor has already informed them of his unavailability.

Another senior Congress leader and Chandigarh MP Manish Tiwari was also absent from the meeting.

Tharoor was attending an event hosted by the Prabha Khaitan Foundation in Kolkata last night. He also explained on X that he was in the city for a wedding of along longtime aide and the birthday of his sister.

He had also missed a Congress strategic meeting, which was held on November 30. He explained the next day that he was on a flight returning from Kerala when the meeting took place.

“I did not skip it; I was on a plane coming from Kerala", he said.

The meeting was chaired by Sonia Gandhi to discuss the party’s strategy for the winter parliamentary session.

The MP’s office had later clarified that the he and his 90-year-old mother were flying to Delhi on a rescheduled flight, making it impossible to be present at the meeting.

The absence had drawn attention because Tharror had also missed the congress meeting on the SIR issue before that.

The first time was on November 18. The party had discussed the special intensive revision and was led by Gandhi and party head Mallikarjun Kharge. Tharror was absent due to health concerns.

However, the day before that meeting, the Congress MP had attended a private event where the Prime Minister spoke. In an X post, he had also praised the PM’s speech, which got flak from his party member.

When Congress leaders expressed that he might as well join the BJP, Tharoor asked people to display "a willingness to cooperate across ideologies."
