As the Bihar Election results early trends pour in, the mandate is almost clear with the NDA, led by the BJP, racing ahead of the Opposition, RJD-led Mahagathbandhan. While the predictions have so far proven right in the case of the 2025 election results, all eyes are on how the Jan Suraaj party, led by Prashant Kishor, has fared in its debut electoral battle.
As of 10 am, Jan Suraaj has created a stir in the political equations by taking the lead in three seats in the initial trends. However, the margins are razor-thin, hinting that there is absolutely no guarantee at this point that the party can win them.
While the Jansuraj Party had an initial lead in the Chanpatia seat, where Manish Kashyap is the candidate, later reports hint that Mahagathbandan’s Abhishek Ranjan (Congress) has raced ahead, pushing Manish behind BJP’s Umakant Singh.
Similarly, Bhojpuri singer Ritesh Pandey is leading in the Kargahar seat ahead of MGB’s Santhosh Kumar Mishra of Congress. Uday Pratap Singh of the BSP is in the third position.
The JSP’s strong fight is in about 15 seats, though the party fielded candidates in all 243 seats. Out of these, three withdrew their nominations later, and that of one was rejected.
The exit polls too weren’t very favourable for Kishor, with most predicting it to win only on 0-2 seats, out of the total 243 seats.
Voting took place across the 243 constituencies of Bihar in two phases — on November 6 and 11 — witnessing the highest voter turnout of 69.20 per cent since the 1951 state Assembly polls.
