Amit Shah on Delhi Red Fort Metro blast: 'All possibilities being probed' as death toll touches 8

Union Home Minister Amit Shah said senior police and security officials are at the Red Fort metro blast site and all "possibilities" are being probed. Shah visited the blast site and the injured persons at the hospital. 

Reacting on the developments, Union Home Minister Shah said, "A blast occurred in a Hyundai i20 car at the Subhash Marg traffic signal near the Red Fort in Delhi. The blast injured some pedestrians and damaged some vehicles."

Shah said senior police officials rushed to the spot soon after they received information of the incident. "Within 10 minutes of receiving the information of the blast, teams from the Delhi Crime Branch and Delhi Special Branch arrived at the spot. The NSG and NIA teams, along with the forensic experts, have now begun a thorough investigation. Orders have been given to examine all nearby CCTV cameras. I have also spoken to the Delhi police commissioner and the Special Branch in-charge," he added.

"We are exploring all possibilities and will conduct a thorough investigation, taking all possibilities into account. All options will be investigated immediately, and we will present the results to the public," the Union home minister said. 

A high-intensity blast rocked the national capital on Monday evening. As many as 24 people suffered injuries in the blast, and the death toll has touched eight. Several state police forces including Maharashtra, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Kerala have intensified security measures in respective states.
